Andy Warhol. Serial Identity

Groups and Tours

12 December 2022–18 June 2023

The exhibition Andy Warhol. Serial Identity presents over 200 works by one of the most revolutionary figures of the Twentieth century. It traces his entire creative universe, from the first drawings made for fashion to the most iconic pop works where the main characters are celebrities.
Marilyn Monroe, Jacqueline Kennedy and Mao Tsê-tung, become with Warhol icons of a revolutionary way of living and consuming,  together with musicians, artists, directors, and big industrial production brands making them banal elements of everyday life elevated to contemporary idols.
The exhibition presents many of the less obvious aspects of his work such as the search for ever-changing identities which undermine the superficial image that the artist wanted to give of himself and the deep connection of his work with the world of music, publishing, film and television production.  The extraordinary extracts from Andy Warhol TV programming, films, artists' books and the most famous designed record covers and, for the first time in Italy, the performance Andy Warhol's Exploding Plastic Inevitable from 1966 will be exhibited.

A guided tour service is available throughout the entire duration of the exhibition.
