SENZA TITOLO

Senza titolo (1950) dates to Gianni Bertini's militant period within the Movimento Arte Concreta (MAC), between 1949 and 1951. The pressing rhythmic structure of the work expresses the artist's formal freedom, capable of giving the rigour of MAC painting a playful dynamism and liveliness. The artist's interest in geometric series repeated according to precise patterns of variation is evidence of his study of maths and science in Pisa in the 1940s, which make Bertini's work wholly unique in the sphere of Italian abstract art.
