All of Irma Blank's artistic work is linked to writing. The artist, however, removes the conventional meanings of the word to concentrate on the rhythm and rituality of writing. From this emerge impressions of writing that she associates with silence, as is the case with the work in this exhibition, which belongs to the MA*GA collection. From the marks made in oil on canvas, one perceives the methodical and linear gestures that created them, from left to right like a text, until the paint on the brush ran out. The result is a modulated, vibrant surface, rich in infinitesimal gradations. An interesting aspect of the work is its tie to the motif of the line, dear to Missoni for its endless compositional and creative possibilities and fundamental for evoking the communicative universe that precedes the word of Irma Blank.
