Superficie a testura variabile 16 quadrati is a two-dimensional geometric work, made up of sixteen square aluminium sheets placed side by side and with different satin finishes. The work is completed by the combination of two variable elements with its physical, constituting components: differing light conditions, which vibrate on the metal surface, and the viewer's consequentially always new and unexpected perception. These results are evidence of Alviani's work in the sphere of arte programmata (“programmed art”) in 1960, convinced that it was necessary to question the statute of art and its purpose, aware of the relationship between culture and technology, between form and function and the renewed relationship between the artist and his or her work, as anticipated by the Bauhaus school and the Constructivists.
