Ugo La Pietra is one of those rare creative figures who are able to act within Modernity while steering their own work, unharmed, through Post-modernity. This leads above all to an absolute awareness of his intentions, an uncommon ability to make previsions and, above all, the creation of a linguistic code that can bear historical transformations and interpret them at the same time. The third can be the only testimony to these first two attitudes – awareness and prevision – because it is only through a productive activity – even more than through its products – that we can historically and critically confirm the existence of the other two.
